WP - Central Reservations - Accounting Agent - Winter Seasonal - Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY

The Call Center Accounting Agent is responsible for assisting with the general accounting duties of the Winter Park Central Reservations and Winter Park Resort Lodging departments. Annually, the Winter Park Call Center processes more than $13,000,000 in sales transactions on over 10,000 booked reservations. The Accounting Agent is required to follow proper accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial records. The Accounting Agent reports directly to the Call Center Accounting Manager and also works closely with the Call Center Accountant Lead on the daily accounting duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (list in order of importance)
  • Performs the proper handling of payments including CC, check, money order and cash; and the related accounting including the creation of a Sales Report daily to be submitted to the WP Revenue Accounting team.
  • Assists with the proper handling of disbursements of funds to Central Reservations subscribers, travel agents, airlines and other vendors, and ensures the accuracy of such disbursements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that vendor information is up to date and the all information needed for a given vendor has been collected.
  • Tactfully contacts guest or travel agent to resolve payment discrepancies, past due payments, declined credit cards, etc.
  • Maintains a close, positive working relationship with subscriber staff, as well as various accounting and non-accounting departments of Winter Park Resort and Alterra Mountain Company.
  • Communicates billing problems, errors, refunds or adjustments promptly and works towards resolution, including collection.
  • Maintains a clean, organized work area.
  • Maintains a friendly, congenial, and helpful attitude while effectively dealing with the guests and other employees.
  • All correspondence done in a timely and professional manner.
  • As work load volume dictates, support the reservations team and complete duties as listed for Reservations Sales Agent.
  • Consistently follows safety procedures and utilizes appropriate safety equipment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS(state minimum required and preferred)

  • High School diploma or GED -- General Education Development (high school education equivalency test).
  • College level accounting course or two years of previous accounts payable clerical duties, cash handling, or account reconcilement duties.
  • Previous employment with Intrawest, Lodging Division or Call Center desirable

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Ability to learn and understand a variety of computer programs in a timely manner
  • Valid Colorado Driver s License and clean Motor Vehicle record desirable
  • Ability to work in a team situation with demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Trustworthy and handles confidential information in an appropriate manner.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Office Environment:

  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
