WP - Ski & Ride School - Snowmobile Driver - Winter Seasonal - FT

POSITION SUMMARY(convey level of autonomy or level of authority)

WPSRS is currently hiring for the position of Snowmobile Driver. The main duty of this position is to transport ski school guests to and from classes. This individual will also assist the Children's Center staff with transportation of children's ski equipment and will help with facility maintenance and resupply throughout the area. It is imperative that this person consistently follow WPSRS policies and procedures. An interested applicant should have at least six months experience driving a snowmobile, a snowmobile license or related experience, and good public relations skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (list in order of importance)

Daily Duties:

  • Morning and afternoon transportation of children's ski equipment, as assigned by Children's Center staff.
  • Transportation of students (adult and child) on or off the mountain, as necessary.
  • Be available on the hill or at the ski school desk to assist guests with logistics and answer questions regarding ski school or the ski area in general.
  • Replenish drinking water stations on the hill. Place and remove coolers and cups daily.
  • Work closely with ski patrol and guest services to provide supplemental transportation of guests.
  • Responsible for maintenance of snowmobile:
  • Take snowmobile to maintenance shop for routine checks in a timely manner.
  • Be able to troubleshoot maintenance problems on the hill, if necessary.
  • Coordinate with maintenance shop personnel for unscheduled maintenance.
  • Regularly check ski school equipment used on the hill (fencing, water coolers, ski wagons, etc.)
  • Transportation of video equipment to special groups needing the cameras, upon request of supervisor or team leader.
  • III. Other Duties:

  • Maintain a friendly, congenial and helpful attitude while effectively dealing with guests, students and other employees.
  • Report any unsafe conditions regarding equipment and area of work, or elsewhere on the ski area.
  • Be aware of area cleanliness and pick up trash.
  • Other Duties:

    • Maintain a friendly, professional and congenial attitude while effectively caring for the children.
    • Report and correct any unsafe conditions which may affect employee or public safety.
    • Set a positive example for all childcare and indoor
    • Work throughout the child care and green room as assigned.
    • Greet parents and kids apon their arrival
    • Assist in fitting the children with rental equipment.
    • Assist children with ski clothing and related gear.
    • Co-ordinate indoor activities/games with children.
    • Supervise kids 3-14 when they come inside.
    • Assist on snow with kids group ski lesson.
    • Assist with lunch preparation and serving lunches.
    • General housekeeping of the room, maintaining a clean facility throughout the day to health code regulations.
    • Ensure the children's safety throughout the day and resolve and issues that may arise.
    • Ensure that children leave with the appropriate adults.
    • Perform other duties as directed.

    8. Balancing when driving snowmobile or skiing, frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)

    9. Stooping to drill, adjust fencing, helping students; frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)

    10. Kneeling to help dress children, occasionally (less than 1/3 of the time)

    11. Handling placement of signs, slalom poles; occasionally (less than 1/3 of the time)

    12. Ordinary talking, frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)

    13. Hearing ordinary conversation, frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)

    14. Vision

    a)Average acuity/near (reading), occasionally (less than 1/3 of the time)

    b)Average acuity/far (locating signs, points, people), frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)

    c)Average depth perception (terrain recognition), frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)

    d)Average color vision (locating student descriptions), frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)

    e)Average field of vision (ski traffic awareness), frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)

    15. Must be able to withstand extreme cold, constantly (more than 2/3 of the time)

    Don't Be Fooled

    The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
